Email is not Dead

Good blog post from Morgan Stewart at Media Post

Email is Not Dead, But Preferences Need to Evolve

Key line that jumped out at me.

"The solution to one-to-one marketing fragmentation depends on our ability to capture preferences, listen over time, and adapt accordingly." (emphasis mine)

Papa Johns is limber

This is a good example of why businesses should have blogs. Because Papa Johns already had the "infrastructure" in place to respond, they were able to get out there and respond much more quickly than they could have through traditional PR channels.

How Papa Johns Averted a WOM Disaster

Good Webinar

I'm always looking for things to help me spread the gospel of blogging and got a good quote from a webinar I attended on Tuesday entitled "How to Use Blogging and Email to Create Leads and Delight Customers" presented by Habeas

It's not a direct quote, but here's my paraphrase of what the presenter (I believe it was Chris Baggott) said:

Your brand is going to be talked about on the Internet, whether it is on your blog or not. The question is, do you want to be part of the conversation or not? If you are, then you can engage, get feedback and learn from your customers.

I find that the people who are afraid of social networking (which is what a good blog really is) are afraid of not being able to control the message. In reality, being part of the conversation is the only way to be a part of shaping the online message

ps-
there is no real control, let it go type A control freaks, get counseling already.

Talk to y'all later!

Been awhile

Haven't posted on this blog in a while. Personal life and work life have both been in upheaval mode since 2006, but thankfully, I believe and claim in faith that this season of my life is coming to a close.
