Viral Seeding

Viral marketing is challenging, because, much like with a "real" virus, people tend to get a little irritated if you try and spread it on purpose, but are very supportive if it spreads by accident.

Check out this post from Dan Zarrella, a viral marketing specialist, on the 6 must-haves in viral seeding.

One thing to notice, several of the seeding steps are more effective if you already have relationships in the social media spaces. Don't wait to get involved in the conversation. Get involved, and then when you have something to share, your online community will be more likely to listen.

2008 Google search - eyetracking studies

With thanks to one my my Twitter peeps (@melaniephung) I found this great updated eyetracking study on how people actually are using Google SERPs.

Why Rank #1 in Google

This is a great way to explain the need for SEO,(natural search engine optimization) particularly for someone who may wonder "why now?" Well, why now because we are changing and evolving our search habits. My opinion is that some of this change is coming from a Google improving search results and web searchers placing more trust in those results.

One very important fact - "the top three Google results get 79% of all clicks."
